The Unclenching of Fists

Poesy Rider Un metal vraiment intéressant qui repose sur des bases death et prog et qui comporte tout un tas d'éléments dits ''ethniques''. Du coup, on se surprend parfois à méditer pendant un gros riff bien appuyé. Album être bon ! Favorite track: Of Time and its Absence.

1.
Perceive… This timeless, breathless figure, Stone-like against the coming storm In desperate vigil – Torn from Within… Torn from Within I am… Having seared in my mind The anguish, the loss and the pain… Reborn from Within I am… One with the wind, And one with the plains… I drowned, in laments… And rode on, reborn Yet torn…
2.
I am now the raging fiend Riding the wings of a frozen wind… For the horizon beckons, it beckons me forth. Wanderer – without perception Wanderer – without direction Is it my fate, to roam the endless plains? A dead world blazes behind A dead world burns in my mind And the flesh with it… A spirit of the steppe I became ethereal I perpetuate digression And the illusion Of ascension… In circles dimmer and dimmer… To find, one must know what to search…

Reborn… Vaulting the waters of the vast Oceans of pain. I embraced the Diamond Paths… And elevated the Self. I wander, solemn Unrestrained by carnal bonds Channeling the essence of the parallel “I” Through mind-searing channels of Fire Towards thresholds to be As the thousand faces of Perfection Gaze upon me… Supratemporal. Wandering – Motionless… Discipline does convey transcendence, And with it, the splendor of the unseen… I stand, in defiance of Death Upon this Path.
5.
Voyage 04:20
Drifting, In vertical motion Beyond an horizon That bleeds… Chanting, In shamanic trance As shadows dance In spirals… Of longing… Voyage – Static Pilgrimage Shifting, Shattered husk of Delusion Beyond myriad horizons That bleed… That bleed its seeds Onto frailest skin Fiery, within Remembrance seethes Voyage – Static Pilgrimage Dreaming, Of still waters Held in mid-air As spirals… Spirals of Wisdom, Wherein peace lies… Vastness… I cease to be.
6.
Visualize, Exorcise The multiplicity of the Self In layers Of liquid Flame Burn, soiled flesh o´mine Burn, and begone! That I may ascend In fiery grace All-knowing, All-consuming Equilibrium of perfection Of perception In purest Flame Blinded was I By the radiance of Enlightenment A Seer I became In labyrinths of Flame…

The Roaring Voice of the God of Death Journeys do end So others begin… Greeted by echoes Of the Unseen… Abandonment Is the Harbinger of abstraction Essence of dreams – dreams of realities Beyond and Within The claws of the Black One thrust forth, Tearing the “I” asunder. Abandonment… Frail… to the point of non-existence Abandoning the husk of flesh Towards transcendence… The Roaring Voice of the God of Death Drinking of Heaven On the roof of the World… Outside a shell So fragile and cold… Joining the echoes Of the Unseen…
9.
Wandering… Slowly above the conceptualized Mind… Changing… Awaking a dormant, developing Mind Beyond Time Beyond Flesh When Time is absent… Meditating in silence… Experiencing a deep connection with Padmansabhava I beheld, as the whole Universe transformed into Guru Rimpoche´s mandala Surrounded by a circular rainbow from which light radiated and flowers fell like rain Wherein stood his eight emanations… In radiant warmth... Amidst oceans of dancing daka and dakini, Focused in highest samadhi… Dpal gsang-ba ´dus-pa´i gnad kyi don gsal-ba (Elucidating the meaning of the essential point of the Shrî Guhyasamâja) Destroying attachments, developing rigpa… Focused anew, within highest tantra… I beheld, as the whole Universe transformed into Guru Rimpoche´s mandala Surrounded by a circular rainbow from which light radiated and flowers fell like rain In compassionate warmth...

Great Dark One, nag-po chen-po, Drink our Souls And spit them back, That we may perceive Our one thousand Deaths… 2. mchod-pa / offerings Take our meager offerings Unveil our eyes To Magnificence Beyond the five senses That we may reach The sixth… 3. bstod-pa / praises Six-armed Gönpo, mgon-po phyag drug-pa; Fierce protector, Guard our Earth from Evil. Mahâkâla, We greet you in praise, Grant us Strength, And Wisdom…

Absolute 03:18
Absolute – A circle's completion Is blinding Perfection All and naught – again… All I sought – again… I am but the Vigilant learner, In Wisdom enlightened By the blazing thousand-fold memories Of my Pasts, Of my distant Pasts… Absolute – A circle's completion Is entrancing Perfection I am but the Silent beholder, In Wisdom uplifted As dust from long-dead Stars That we are… That we all are…

Born of flesh and dirt, cleansed in liquid Flame, Through Oblivion and Despair, beckoned forth in blissful, absolute clarity… Transcending the cycle of mortality, I revel in the absence of Time, Beyond the boundaries of physical Space. My fists, at last, unclenched… Crushed by Enlightenment, the Longing is no more No longer clinging to this frail existence Subduing Yama´s magnificent roar Bondless, in Time and Space… Envisioning Nirvana… Meditating on ati yoga views, I destroy the three roots of Ego (Ignorance, Passion, Aggression) With the energy of Yamantaka Trochu Trampling the host of woes… I have risen from Flesh My fists, unclenched… Beyond mind and karma, Envisioning Nirvana… Born of flesh and dirt, cleansed in liquid Flame, Through Oblivion and Despair, beckoned forth in blissful, absolute clarity… Transcending the cycle of mortality Facing the poison of molten Iron… I revel in the absence of Time, Beyond the boundaries of physical Space. My fists, at last, unclenched… Cutting past the chains of Duality Towards the aspect of Manjusri Fully awakened, enlightened awareness Beyond the five elements… I have risen from Flesh My fists, unclenched… Beyond mind and karma, Envisioning Nirvana…

about

A conceptual album dealing with Tantric Buddhism, «The Unclenching of Fists» is based on the Bardo Thödol (the Tibetan “Book of the Dead”), its writing required deep research in order to fully convey the envisioned atmosphere. This involved experimenting with lyrics, and writing illustrative music to each moment in the album… a long, difficult process. In spite of that, and after a year's worth of recording and mixing, “The Unclenching of Fists” was finally completed in early 2005, an intense journey in Flesh, Space and Time towards enlightenment and transcendence. Released through Pro-Con, a side label of well-known portuguese avantgarde label Equilibrium Music, it is a bold endeavour in both music and concept, mixing old-school extreme Metal music with an intense and weird twist, and Far Eastern musical atmospheres.
